Snowball Tree

Botanical name: Viburnum Opulus Sterile
Common name: Snowball Tree

Comments:
This selected form has sterile, white, snowball like flowers, up to ten centimetres across weighing down the branches. The flowers are currently being looked at for the cut flower market.
Deep green leaves through Spring and Summer. Produces bright autumn foliage as shown above although Autumn colours are more prominent in cooler areas.

Will grow in full sun or part shade and prefers a more sheltered position for best results. Fully frost hardy for harsher climates. Can be grown in most areas of New Zealand.

A vigorous, deciduous, bushy shrub, growing up to four metres tall. Shrubs can be pruned and thinned after flowering especially in older bushes.

A good fertilising in Spring is very beneficial to promote new growth.
